ITT, ParkerVision demonstrate breakthrough transmitter technology at GOMACTech 2009 Conference
FORT WAYNE, Ind., March 25, 2009 -
ITT Corporation, along with partner ParkerVision (Nasdaq: PRKR), demonstrated D2P wireless technology at GOMACTech 2009 Conference earlier this month in Orlando, Fla. The two showcased digitally-controlled radio-frequency (RF) modulation agility through D2P implementation which enables increased talk time and smaller battery size in devices such as cellular phones.
D2P transmitter technology saves energy by significantly reducing the power dissipation in the transistors in the transmit chain. Instead of using the transistors as variable resistors, they are used as switches, allowing a greater percentage of the battery power to go to the antenna. The D2P architecture is also very nimble, and is able to efficiently handle many more different signal formats than competing devices.
“The D2P transmitter being demonstrated is just one example of product implementation that we are currently working with ParkerVision to develop,” said Ken Peterman, president and general manager, ITT Communications Systems. “This technology is an important tool in our product planning strategy.”
Since 2007, ITT has been partnering with ParkerVision as a licensee of D2P technology to develop radio solutions for the ITT product line. The technology provides the ability to solve hurdles in the wireless communications field that will result in products with extended battery lives, lower product costs, and smaller form-factors.
